An Min, Vice Minister of Commerce met with envoys of India, Indonesia and Thailand
An Min, Vice Minister of Commerce, met on December 27 urgently with envoys of India, Indonesia and Thailand, notifying them Chinese Government shall provide humanitarian aid to the disaster countries hit by tsunami caused by the earthquake.
An Min said, strong earthquake and tsunami caused great casualties and property loss in these countries. In order to express the friendly sentiments of Chinese government and people and help people in disaster area fight natural disaster to save themselves, Chinese government is to send food, tents and blankets worth of 21.63 million yuan to India, Indonesia and Thailand, Sri Lanka and Maldives, in order to alleviate enormous losses that the disaster caused. Currently, Ministry of Commerce joints hands with relevant departments to prepare goods and materials and to ship them to the disaster countries as soon as possible.
An Min expressed gratitude to the disaster countries for their efforts in providing relief to Chinese citizens in the disaster and believed governments of these countries and people can unquestionably overcome the disaster, overcome the difficulties and rebuild their home.
The envoys of countries expressed thanks for free assistance of Chinese government and the people, and notified the latest disaster situation.
